Connecting to unsecured wireless: Is it hijacking? by ChuckAB2006-11-19 12:55:59
I do it when i'm in the city by MikeCDN 2005-01-27 09:11:30
Turn on my laptop while downtown, wait 1 minute, my laptop will have a internet connection, open ICQ.

I have no moral qualm with it.

The way I look at it, my computer, asks your computer / access point for permission, your computer gives my computer the SSID and the connection details, my computer asks yours for LAN information, yours willing gives me info through the DHCP.

Your computer invites mine to connect by willingly giving all the details. If you don't want it then don't let it give me the details.

It's like telling a child not to let strangers into the home. Stranger comes to the door, asks to come in, kid can either let them or refuse. The stranger may have good or bad purposes, but they were still invited in.
