by end users, or something along those lines. It does at least make casual copying rather more difficult, and to my knowledge is the only such mechanism that is universally supported by DVD players. That's the problem with pasted-on CD DRM: you're as likely to stop a CD player from working as to stop someone from copying the CD. The standard simply doesn't support DRM. Unforuntately, CSS comes with a significant license fee. See the DVD Copy Control Association for information.
