What's happening likely is that there is a problem with the configuration. Either you need to choose a different graphics card or different video settings for the monitor. If you post the type of graphics card and monitor others might be able to help you. But that is my guess as to why it's giving that error as I ran into a like error on my old box due to an older monitor that needed special settings.
