Help! Mandrake 10.1 installation... by NOLAWitch2005-01-16 13:43:24
  ok here's how by Celticess 2005-01-16 13:50:37
if it has booted into text you will get a prompt.

Type user name then hit enter then password then hit enter. It will say last login or something and you'll see it dumped you in home. Now type "startx" and it will start your default window manager.

Now in there use the menu to find mandrake control center. It might ask for root password. Give it. Otherwise it might wait to ask you that til you click the option I'm going to mention. Click "boot" on the list. In there it should have "graphical boot" turn that on and click ok/apply. Then exit control center. Next logout/login/reboot it should take effect :)

Only time it might not is if it has some issue in X with the systems graphics. Then yes you'd need install disk 1 and have to skip through several parts of the install choosing simply update current or whatever.(it's changed as years ago you could click forward or back on the dots for spot in install process)
