Wow. Didn't know bnl would be that loud. by tnglives 2004-12-31 23:16:34
I went to the "St Petersburg Times Forum" (oddly located in Tampa) for the Barenaked Ladies New Year's Eve concert. My first bnl concert, so I was quite enthused. Absolutely incredible seats for ordering 2 days in advance. The "Whose Line Is It Anyway" style improvisational "songs" were quite amusing, and I think they take great pleasure in throwing off anyone singing along by changing lyrics or inserting anecdotes to music.

The only problem is that two hours later I can still hear the amplifiers. I think I finally got the one partial glass of white wine (freebie with the expensive tickets, but not champagne) out of my system, so that's not to blame. And the Forum (formerly the Ice Palace, and still very much so in form) is not accoustically tuned, to say the least. "Eh, let's drown the echoes out by cranking it up even louder!" "What?" "I said--" *technician keels over with his ears bleeding*

Still, a fun way to spend the holiday.
