*Sigh* by Celticess2004-12-31 15:00:11
why is it that you are moving exactly? by j.butterfly2004-12-31 15:25:37
    Because by Celticess 2004-12-31 15:39:17
My roommates gf is moving in. My roommate is the landlords son. Because of that legally they can evict me. They are being nice and giving me til july 1st. However I live off of $1145/mo and $323 of that depends on my exhusband paying maintance when he's supposed to. The court is backed up so things aren't registered despite the order being made in june. So my ex husband pays 1-3 weeks late. I've saved up just enough to cover my butt for when he does that but if it happened 2 months in a row I'd be in trouble.

The rents for Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, and Port Moody for 1 bedrooms alone(doesn't matter if it's a basement suite or an appartment) are starting at $585 but on average are around $715. The 2 bedroom places on average are around $650-$1200/mo. All the co ops are full and even if they weren't I don't have the $1200 for a share(deposit). For the subsidized housing run by BC Housing they have 7,000 units they manage and 6,000 people waiting to get in ahead of me. Even with some priority because of our situation they said it may take 2-4 yrs to get in if we get in at all... they said some people have been on the list 10 years but that most give up around 6 yrs into waiting. They said they would call me in about 4 months maybe to give me an update and that I have to contact them every 6 months after that or they take me out of the waitlist registry... then they lectured me on why it's not a wait list though people are on a list waiting... *sigh*

For independant houses that are subsidized there are 5 different places managing complexes in my area. 1 has some residency requirement I'm not sure what they mean by that(it's run by kinsmen), another is not far from me, then 3 buildings in a neighbouring city run by a sister organization to share society. They have very limited 2 bedroom units, no one bedrooms and they will not let me into a 3 because I don't require 3 bedrooms(and they don't let you have a roommate either in subsidized housing). To get into these someone needs to move out. Currently they are all full.

All other cities that I could go to(without totally losing and having to reapply for my sons respite and other services... which wouldn't only affect him but would cause me to have to quit school) are co operative housing. Those require share purchases from $1200 - $1500 for a 2 bedroom. I live from cheque to cheque... I don't have that kind of money. I can't tell either if some of their rents are on a sliding scale but assuming some are due to them being on the non profit subsidized housing list. But if I can't afford the shares and they wont take payments then I have no hope and hell of getting in even if there are units available(which there aren't... the various co op listings in bc online all list them as at capacity for 2bedroom units)...

Basically tonight I phone my mom later and ask if I get on the waitlist for one of these if she could loan me the amount for a deposit. I'm not sure she totally has the money to part with and she and I would both know it would be awhile before I could pay it back(at least 5 yrs). Also I'll ask if one cousin and one old family friend of hers might remotely have a basement suite available ... So far I don't think they do.

I just want a stable place for me and my son where I have some security and wont get evicted because they want to sell the house or raise the rent even more. Btw my roommate and his gf plan on buying this house and his parents would still live in the basement suite so basically there is no place for us. Being autistic I'm not the most social person... most my family is dead or living considerable distance. The bottom line is I have no where to go in 6 months unless someone or some organization takes pity on me and Stephen... So yea I'm just a tad frightened.
