Well, I just posted something over on the Archlinux forums to the effect that, given the bugginess of the packages, it might be a good idea to switch to some other sort of packages - some sort of which the preponderance are not bug-infested.
(I stupidly suggested Slackware's .tgz, which has no dependency solving... D'oh. Forgot that one because I was thinking of Swaret. But the point still stands: if you're not going to make usable packages yourself, use somebody else's packages.)
It seems that the Arch community is unaware that most Arch packages, to put it bluntly, suck.
("You don't know what you're talking about..." No, I don't, because I've only used Linux for about 6 months and I'm still learning it. But I know enough to see that Firefox crashing regularly is not normal.) |
