Is a BMI of ~19.5 normal? (n/t) by raptor_872004-12-30 16:10:06
BMI is faulty! by hieraco2004-12-30 18:44:23
    Not exactly faulty, by run.dll 2004-12-30 19:28:22
it's well known that BMI is inappropriate for such exceptional cases. Many extraordinary athletes, especially weightlifters and football players have BMIs outside the recommended limit as well. My younger brother was similar to the fellow you mention back when he was into weightlifting.
That being said, it's a good guide for the rest of us, no matter how much it's dissed. Obviously there will be limitations on any scheme designed to express body fat with a single digit measure based on height and weight.
The same sort of problem applies for IQ.
