Just got a chance to read your response from yesterday. Do you really believe a woman has no right to defend herself? That's what it sounds like. Nothing was said in my post about an ambush, only self-defense. And yes, women who kill while being attacked are charged with murder and not given credit for the "complex psychological issues" that you note. As for the parts of the country that you're referring to. I know them like the back of my hand. Was raised and spent my life in one of the deepest, darkest of those ugly places. I know exactly how hard it can be. I also know that I and other women like me have worked damn hard to make it easy to get out. Yes, it is easy... once the woman gets the male-dominance crap out of her head. Holding this particular woman up as an icon for battered women who get out does a disservice to those who truly do get a clue and do something about their lives. But maybe that's something you wouldn't understand to borrow your technique of dismissal.
