  The problem with BMI by niwikki 2004-12-30 17:06:06
is that it doesn't take composition into account.

Two people could be the same height and weight, but one be thick boned with well-built muscles causing the weight, and the other thin boned with primarily fat causing the weight. They'd be completely different shapes and it would be obvious looking at them to see who was healthier, but they'd have the same BMI.

I personally think the use of BMI to calculate "health" does more harm than good with the messages it sends.
