I agree that the amount of aid most countries are giving is despicable. I believe NZ is 4th in total govt contributions (last I looked), and we're a tiny fraction of the size of the countries above us. We're probably right near the top, per-capita. Anyway, you can help. Other than giving money, many places will be looking for volunteers to go around with buckets collecting at New Year's celebrations (I'm going along to help collect this evening). Others are looking for people to man the phones in call centers to accept donations.
