And even Le Guin and David Brin (Earthsea and The Postman, respectively) haven't slagged the film versions terribly (OK, they both have said basically that "the only similarity is the title"). Well, maybe that is slagging it.
And we don't know what the screening was, either. If it was the "first" screening, before the suits get their hands on it, it could have been a very different film that what we wound up seeing in the theaters. (Alien 3 is such a case - the special edition was the cut that was shown to the studio before the release, and it's different than the theatrical release.) |
