that I have, x() actually changes the condition.
As in, x() prepares the condition. In a way you may even say that x() can become part of the condition.
Perhaps it should become part of the condition. Then the code will become simpler.

In my particular code, however I've decided to let x() prepare the condition and then check if it's true or not. That way I don't have to call a function condition() and my code runs faster (that's a big issue for that particular piece of code). But I suppose I can inline condition() function and see how fast it runs then. If it runs just as fast, then I'll achive perfect harmony with code style and speed :)
