Well, you can do most of that, and it will improve things a little. What you should NEVER do is set maxrequests to "some number like 30". Set it to 2. Do not set it higher than 2. This is the number of concurrent requests to the same host, and setting it that high is simply rude. If everyone did it, it would cause all sorts of problems.

See the HTTP specification to verify that 2 is the maximum for normal use.

Other browsers let you fiddle with this as well, but I don't think I'll be telling anyone how right now...
