According to the web site:
Ubuntu is a Linux distribution that starts with the breadth of Debian and adds regular releases (every six months), a clear focus on the user and usability (it should "Just Work", TM) and a commitment to security updates with 18 months of support for every release.
And this:
We have kept the distribution installation CD set down to one single CD, everything else is available online if you need it.
I'm hoping this means I can use apt and/or dselect to get additional packages (without having to download & install apt first). Anyway, I'm downloading the install CD image now, so we'll see how it goes...
