I'm just full of anecdotes lately by thread_killer 2004-12-30 08:03:31
When I was living in Arkansas and getting ready to move to Virginia, I started to apply for jobs back East.

One job in particular that I applied for was as a tech weenie with a local school division. I thought I was slightly over qualified, but hey...got to get that resume out there, right? I figured I had a pretty good chance of hearing back from them.

So I included a nice cover-letter which essentially said "I'm going to be moving to Virginia. I'll be there by September first, please consider me."

Several weeks later, I got the rejection letter, addressed to Ft. Smith, Arizona (spelled out like that). I laughed pretty hard about that. I also wondered "Do I really want to work for a school district that doesn't know the difference between Arkansas and Arizona?"

On a whim, I sent the exact same resume to them again right before I left. The only thing I changed was I put my return address as my in-laws, who live in Virginia. I was called -- at a 501 (Arkansas) area code-- for an interview less than a week later.

Morons. Glad I don't work there, glad my kids don't go to school there.
