I'm perfectly good at troubleshooting my own equipment, you know. :b
Here's what you do first:
Check that DHCP on the router is working. Do this by plugging in a laptop (ruatha, since we know /it/ works) to port 1. And power. Nothing else. release and renew your ip.
If you're getting a 192.168.1.10x address, then I didn't screw it up the other night when I showed you how to use it.
If you aren't, reach around back and hold the reset button down until you see a red light on the front of it and start over.
Next, plug the modem into the WAN port on the router. Yes, the WAN, not the uplink.
Try again.
The way it's set up, you should be able to get to 192.168.1.1.
It sounds like DHCP on the modem is turned off, WHICH IS GOOD. Well, it's not /bad/ if it /is/ on, it's just easier to admin the network (all 3 parts of it at present. :b) without the modem's DHCP turned on. That explains why you're getting the 220.237.x.x and not a 192.168.100.x.
My router will take care of the DHCPing and NAT'ing and everything else they need. |
