I forget are you a ham radio operator? My roommate teaches courses on it, is one of the top licensed and helped write the emergency manual for how to deal with a disaster(communication part of the manual). He is also leary of cells. Not if they are hands free or otherwise away from the head but he doesn't like them up around the head. He has a 1200W amped yagi antenna on our roof, 80m diapole, and a VHF/UHF one. Others that I know through him(I'm also licensed) are 50 50 split on the caution with the phones right up to the ear. *shrug* And yes there were scientific studies on cellphones. Cellphone market wasn't too pleased about them but they exist. The power line ones are mixed I think. I've not paid too much attention to that and power lines are different than an antenna. Btw I wasn't talking EM I was talking RF.
