easiest answer...pursue "X"...remain a friend to "Y"...and "Z" is off the hook... NOW...if "Y" values your friendship over her unspoken feelings there's no problem...and "Z" is a non-issue... IF..."X" rebuffs your advances you still have "Y" and "Z" to help pick up the pieces... BUT...if "Y" holds more toward her "What If" ideals of a relationship with you during your pursuit of "X"...then she'll break her own silence (again letting "Z" off the hook) and make her feelings known...then you can go into the patented "I really like you...but..." speech... ...in any manner "Z" is a non-issue...he's just added confusion to the mix and possibly additional stresses where there are none needed...it's really a question of what YOU want... ...a friend is a friend is a friend...nothing changes that...if for whatever reason "Y's" feelings for you are too much for her to deal with...it wouldn't matter if "X" was Miss America or Miss Nude Universe...or the "girl next door"..."Y" would have a problem with you in any relationship with anyone except her...which would mean she's not really a friend (but you are her pursuit...and there's no easy "Let Down" to give)...but if "Y" IS a true friend...she'll realize your happiness is more important than her unspoken feelings... ...finally the one question to ask yourself...what are "X's" feelings of your having friends of the opposite sex (I've been in that kind of trouble MANY times over)...if she's the jealous type...drop your fascination...she's not worth it...keep your friendships intact... ...just a few thoughts from someone who's made it a life's quest to screw up as many relationships of my own as possible...take it with a grain of salt...your mileage may vary...
