For "major press" I would accept any of the ones you listed, plus any Real World newspaper publisher. As you said, any source has to be evaluated on its own merits and reputation. Same for online sites. From what I have seen, most minor newspapers get their news mostly from the major sources. First-person blogs doing a witness type thing are fine. When disqualifying blogs I would be looking to cut out the middlemen and those pretending to be news gatherers without sources.
