'yep, that's a harder problem --- I still think the answer is to manipulate the curves, but I'm still not 100% sure I understand the exact effect you're going for --- unfortunately, my brain is already fried from trying to get pictures of etched glassware without too many unacceptable reflections so I'm going upstairs and watch mindless drivel on TV....
