Has Political Correctness gone too far? by dab2004-12-21 17:59:31
Answering your questions, in order, by radiowave911 2004-12-21 18:24:48
YES!

YES!

and

YES!

I believed that political correctness had gone too far long ago. It has gotten worse since then.

As for Silent Night...I have always felt that you should be free to practice your religion* in
whatever way you see fit. Singing a song qualifys. Mandating that I sing along does not.
Mandating what I am not allowed to sing related to my religion does not.

As for your third question...I really don't know how to respond. This type of thing bothers me
greatly. See above for the best comment I can come up with at the moment.

* For the record, I am Christian, more or less (Lutheran to be exact - sometimes referred to as 'Catholic lite' :)
I define religion as a set of beliefs to which you, on a personal level, adhere. I reserve the right to completely disagree
with you, but I *do* respect your right to believe what you will. I include Atheism as a religion because I view Atheism
as a belief system. I have always been fascinated by religion, not just Christian, but other religions as well. Some in
particular are the Native American religions, Wicca (is that the correct term?), and the Muslim religion ( I realize these
are somewhat general terms, it's not the day-to-day details, but the overall basic beliefs that interest me). I will readily
admit I know very little about most of these. I have learned some just from reading various postings on this board.
Some of those posts have prompted me to do more research on the web.
