What would you comsider a 'major' news source? Would you limit it to Reuters? Associated Press? United Press International (are they even in existence anymore?) What about television networks - BBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, CBC, FOX (alright...quit laughing now...you're distracting me!), or some other National news network (where national is whatever nation they happen to cover)? What if someone gets all of their news from the Hootin' Holler Gazette? They might consider that a major news source?

I think that could be very difficult to pin down in a multi-national community such as this. If membership were strictly limited to say the US and Canada, or only certain countries, then you could more clearly define a 'major' news source. The sad part is, many of the 'fair and balanced' news sources are themselves tainted - whether consciously or not - and provide the news with the appropriate slant instead of just reporting it and letting us make up our own minds. Some of the best news comes from non-mainstream sources. The reader has to critically evaluate each source for hirself and determine just how ceredible they may be. You mi=ght believe that /. is the all knowing news source for computer news, but don't trust them to report on international politics.

For the record, I agree with the list of what would be allowed. In particular, the peer-reviewed journals for more technical items. I somewhat disagree that Blogs should be not allowed, though. Sometimes the best information comes from first-hand observations. If I write in my blog that I just bought $product and that the claims of &neat_stuff_product_does were false, and provided examples to back that up, then I just provided information thet someone may find valuable when looking to purchase $product.
