Something like pgp's "web of trust" maybe? If I trust somebody on the board on a certain topic, I wont nornmaly check the sources they cite and trust them as a source on that topic. Add a basis such as usually trustworthy sources like some major newschannels and such. Although they may or may not present the turth, they'll present the official version of something which is about as good as one can hope for under most circumstances.
