| Help configuring cable & wireless modems please? |

Hey folks... sorry I've been a bit absent recently, moving house does that to you. I've been gaining bruises and sore muscles galore.
So my (ex) flatmates have just had cable installed at their new house. Nice shiny Motorola SB5100 is plugged in and working. V_P (currently winging his way to Ohio) has sold them his old wireless router and now I'm trying to configure it.
I have plugged the cable modem into the uplink port on the wireless router, and have my laptop connected to one of the router ports. As you can see, I'm connected fine that way. But I can't reach the IP he told me to use to configure the wireless access! [192.168.1.1]
Now things get really confusing...
I googled for the ip to access the cable modem's config [192.168.100.1]. It tells me that DHCP has been turned on, and that machines connected will receive an IP between 192.168.100.11 and 192.168.100.42.
Checking ipconfig tells me that my IP starts 220.237...
*pulls a confused face*
Help?
I miss my Val_Parthen :( 17 days 'til he returns. |
