"This is war" is the usual excuse bandied about by those who want the disgusting acts at Abu Ghraib swept under the carpet. Please note that DR66 doesn't fall into this group -- I haven't seen him say anything supporting the atrocious behaviour at the prison.

I wonder what the apologists would say when a captured U.S. soldier is tortured and/or humiliated by the enemy. Think they'd be okay with "this is war"?
