        Frosh-ness and LFS by wwill 2004-12-21 12:09:06
LFS is the perfect way ot go, if you have the time. I'm going to go through it again soon.

As for the 'being new to college" bit, if the local population is at all representative most of the new students in the Fall have only the stress of figuring out how much they can drink before they barf. Their classes (unfortunately... but that's another diatribe) are not at all challenging except as exercises in endurance of boredom. There is plenty and to spare of time for learning Linux, and for any who are in the Info Systems program it will help them in their later classes if they are exposed to it.

And not to be too snobbish myself, various sorts of BSD are most excellent as well, more secure in general ootb, though I use Linux due to being used to the file and directory structure more than anything. (Said preference is also why Knoppix drove me absolutely bat-dookie when I looked at it some time back (2 years?), since everything was somewhere OTHER than where I expected it.)
