"widow" for many of the same reasons.

The man would made his bride a widow and all power and glory left to the man would fall to her.

But it's five letters, not six.

Then again...

The number of letters in the answer was an additional clue, not part of the original riddle. So if I safely ignore the six-letter requirement...

I'm right!! I'm RIGHT!! Hahahahahaha! I'm RIGHT!!!

(I've never been right before...although I suppose it could be said that I'm still not quite "right")
