a laptop is a sure-fire way to kill whatever linux curiosity they may have. If they first experience linux on a laptop, pretty much ANY laptop, they will have a hellish experience. Even linux weenies that use fourteen different distributions on everything from P133 desktops to Quad-Xeon boxen will admit that the hardware support on laptops is questionable.
Even one like this, designed for linux, will have problems.
Put Windows XP sp2 on it, configure it to automatically download and install all critical patches, anti-virus updates, etc and all will be good. |
