That's the thing: the warning is to follow the label unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Basically, your doctor's going to need to assess your risk of heart complications from the naproxen and advise you to take greater than the normal dose or duration.
If you haven't talked to your doctor about naproxen, do so soon. Be honest with the doc about how much you're actually taking, and how much pain you have with or without it. Chances are, if you don't have a bunch of risk factors, you'll be cleared to continue as you are. If you have a bunch of cardiac risk factors, the doc may be able to find you another painkiller that works without affecting your ability to drive.
I have a high pain tolerance, too. Unfortunately, that means I don't always realize how badly affected by a migraine my brain is until after it's passed (my migraines started affecting my ability to think earlier this year). I agree-- a blessing and a curse. I'll take the high tolerance, though; it made recovering from surgery relatively easy. |
