22 soldiers dead in a mess tent today by Kickstart 2004-12-21 09:51:40
And so another nail in the coffin of the concept that Iraq was a 'cakewalk' and would be over in a few days. The US is further behind now than when they first arrived as they fail to quiet rebellion and dissention. They've lost the moral high ground they once claimed and are covering it by CEO-like congratulations and patting on each others back while the 22 flag-draped coffins of todays dead are carted through the back rooms, away from media eyes.

What's the body count right now? Does anyone even bother to keep track these days? Does anyone keep track of the Iraqi civilians?

...

Should I see you again
I'll give thanks and hugs
and tell you I disagreed
but you'll remain
a fallen hero
Wave happy goodbye
as you continue
that journey home
We keep your name
on our lips
to remember that
you were failed by us
Take the flag
you will wear
the the grave
and wear it proudly
for it stands for truth
even when the reason
you wear that draped flag
forgot why that flag flew
