So what is to be preferred? by Spisefisken2004-12-21 09:25:04
You might have to go through the agency anyway. by esbita 2004-12-21 09:48:45
A job I applied for a while back was very nearly A Sure Thing. Interviewed by internal referral from someone working at company. Manager liked me, referred my info to the staffing agency they outsource basic HR screening to. Staffing agency did not want to put me in that spot because they make less money if it's not someone they referred. So they tried to bait-and-switch me to another craptacular job they had which was identical to the kind of job I was trying to leave. Bascially would not let me have the job that the hiring company had already deemed me qualified for, because I had not gone through the agency.

If you're very lucky, you can bypass the agency altogether. Or you may have to pay the agency a cut anyway. Or they might want to pull something on you like what happened to me. Good luck.
