Never been a fan of Via's C3 procs, they don't perform well at all. Only claim to fame is low power consumption and low heat. Lindows is a lowsy operating system. No guarenteed software support from major software vendors, even though all windows software is supposed to run on it. Warrenty is only one year long. Spend the extra money, buy a Dell 1000 or 1150, get the 3 year complete care warrenty. It'll cost more, but it's worth it. I don't know how many times I've seen no name laptops float across my desk with broken parts. Then I get to tell the user that the new part costs almost what they paid for the thing to begin with. Others may say that Dells suck, but whatever you do, please don't buy one of those walmart PCs. College is natoriously hard on computers, and the warrenty coverage is what you really need, especially some place that can give you on site service and support.
