=Both= games that I've played or are currently playing that use the Source engine have exhibited or are exhibiting the same aberration - sound stuttering, framerate chop that coincides with the stuttering, and episodes of wildly spastic hard-disk activity at the same time.

Makes me wonder if they even bothered to test anything on machines that were even remotely less-than-bleeding-edge...
