AVOID KOFFICE. by LionsPhil 2004-12-19 11:57:21
Yes, I just used ALLCAPS. This is for good reason. KOffice is just horribly broken and the less said about it the better for my blood pressure.

Abiword I have no personal experience with, but I've had friends suffer horrible printing woes from it, and Ability Office's spreadsheet managed to nuke a few months of my Dad's data.

OO crashes occasionally, but at least hasn't caused me any quasi-stomach ulcers yet (unlike MS Office). Plus it seems to do a pretty darn good job of importing and exporting even newer MS Office files -- the main hurdles are fonts and overcomplicated, clip-art heavy PowerPoint slides.
