I can't seem to get IPMI working. Server name is renamed to SVR, and here's the info:

SVR:~# lsmod |grep ipmi
ipmi_devintf 8964 0
ipmi_msghandler 46496 1 ipmi_devintf

SVR:~# grep ipmi /proc/devices
252 ipmidev

SVR:~# ls -al /dev/ipmidev/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Dec 31 1969 .
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Dec 31 1969 ..
(note: running devfs, node does not seem to be automatically created...I tried to create the node with the following, but that didn't help - also tried putting it as /dev/ipmi0)

SVR:~# mknod -m 0600 /dev/ipmidev/ipmi0 c 252 0
SVR:~# ls -al /dev/ipmidev/ipmi0
crw------- 1 root root 252, 0 Dec 15 15:46 /dev/ipmidev/ipmi0

...

On the server side:
SVR:~# ipmitool -I lan -H 192.168.1.110 -U root -a chassis status
Password:
Error: Unable to establish LAN session

On the client side:
greg@hismachine:~$ ipmitool -I lan -H 192.168.1.110 -U root -a chassis status
Password:
(returns nothing)

IPMI is enabled in BIOS, and failure to use the right username or password, does fail appropirately, so a connection is made. I just can't see why this is failing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

KS
