XP failing to boot with "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME".	by McNutcase	2004-12-15 13:41:10

... I had to load up with a bootdisk and wipe the MBR with: fdisk /mbr It happened a few weeks after I tried installing linux, and again a few weeks later after I installed a different distro. Just turned it on one day, and poof there was the error message :( I nearly cried the first time it happened because I thought I'd lost all my data! Also, I got that error yesterday when I bought a new USB Caddy and left it plugged in. It tried to boot of external devices first, and voila that caused the identical error.
