The USUAL setup is dead simple:
The control head has only 12 of the 48 buttons available, and is mounted under the monitor. Pushing button #1 gone puts cam #1 on the screen, button #2 Cam #2, etc.
If life were always this simple it would be great. I'd do your camera/monitor array, but for each element put the Head number and button number for the right button, to allow one guy to have their most used buttons in a group, and someone else to have a diferent set.
Problem is we're also dealign hidef/lodef, so some of the monitors become up/downconverters to change 525 to 1080 and feed it into unised camera inputs. So a lodef signal goign out on a hidef output would loop through an upconverter first, mainign one button enables two paths at once.
In your system you could do that, by pressing the input camera button, looping to the converter, then selecting converter output, and loopign to the original destination. They want it all to happen in one button.
My head asplode too!
