I got a VFS Kernel Panic error when I tried to do the rescue root=/dev/hda2 from the linux disk. (I had forgot to mention that step) That drive is formated RieserFS and the boot disk I was trying was booting a 2.2 kernel (damn that's old). I'm not sure if the problem lies there... Is there a different way to get the drive up? or should I maybe download and boot with a new knoppix, chroot the drive and then try installing grub back in? My concern is it looks like the partition table may be munched.
