Those 2 months make all the difference. That, or I just mucked about with less-than-bleeding-edge systems for my early life. The proper answer to the question, though, is: No, but make sure you use a fork to unplug the power cord. That will prevent excess charge from affecting your hard drive, thus eliminating all my--er, your problems.
