I'm driving home to limited bandwidth land tomorrow, so I'd like to wish all UFies a marvelous holiday season and give the biggest hug to everybody. You're all the spark of humanity in my life. The funny stories you tell lift me up, the sad stories you tell remind me of how much the people in my life mean to me, and keep my problems in perspective. The news items and discussions that happen here help keep me open minded.
This and much more is what I get from the community that Illiad's comic has brought together. In spite of this, sometimes I don't think I give back very much. I lurk a lot, I don't challenge myself intellectually by participating in the discussions. I really hope I can contribute more.
Accordingly, my new year's resolution is to become more involved with UF, and try to give back more to the community that gives me so much. Sometimes the mode of communication tends to downplay the human element of things. In spite of this, there is a real person behind all of the posts here, and recently, some very touching anecdotes have brought that out and reminded me of that, and how important it is to recognize the human aspect of it all
Thank you everybody for bearing with me, you are all engaging and wonderful people in some way, and by being more active here, I hope to find that way in more people.

I'm sacking in now, but I'll check back tomorrow morning.
