But arguing against the death penalty is putting the bandaid in the wrong place.

Mistakes will be made regardless of the form of punishment. Such a strong penalty as death actually forces the legal system to be much more careful. Juries tend to think *hard* before sending someone to the chair.

Fifty-three verifiable false positives in the entire nation over a century? Sounds like the juries are doing a great job.

We are improving, too. Think anyone had 10.61 years (the current state average for *Texas*) to think about how to prove their innocence before being put to death in the early 1900's?
