but our society is less sympathetic when it comes to young men. The active and vocal groups Against Violence Against Women are obviously campaigning for a good cause, but it is also true that men are the victims of violence far more often than women. (I have spent time in emergency receiving, trust me on this one.) I put this to a woman of my acquaintance a while ago and her reply was: "Yes, but they are usually asking for it." When I asked whether that was "blaming the victim for the crime" she didn't think it applied.
