too much supervision and later you may regret not having let your child explore on his own, but too little and the young bugger may get in serious trouble (either by himself or due to others) and you would then regret having not supervised him more closely. I suppose a middle course is best, leavened with an appreciation that a life well lived can never be completely safe.
