These guys are not mercs. They are not acting as soldiers. They are not doing the job of soldiers, at least according to the artical.

I disagree with the claim that the contrators are treated differently by the US government than captured soldiers would be. The US response is ALWAYS to never negotiate. The difference would be in the response options. If they were soldiers, then there would be more soldiers available so that a rescue mission is possible.
