| The police officers of your example were not exercising the judgement of all society (as the courts attempt to do). Rather, they are fulfilling their duty to the best of their human ability. Regardless of the fact that society has assigned that duty, society does not explicitely expect the use of lethal measures during the routine performance of that duty.
The execution of a human being at the hands of the court equates to a long-considered and planned-out activity committed by all members of society, rather than an individual action. Are we not collectively capable of finding a better solution? |
