Throughout my dealings I've had a really close relationship with...well pretty much every gay person that's open about it in my community.

The different terms are used in different ways, at different times, with different people. You can't avoid it.

Everybody's seen a movie or show where $black guy says to $black guy2 the DREADEd "N" word, and everything is fine...then the dorky white kid says it, and somebody throws a football at his head.

It's similar, but many times more complex.

Basically: what term is the right term at the right time? THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW.
