My exhusbands family does that sort of stuff. It's just the thing to do. You visit you get food and they make you take a bunch home. Then send various stuff home with my son often. But I also know they have just done this because it's the thing to do in other circumstances too(ie coworkers on most of their jobs get stuff at particular times of the year)
