The "old world" already made a statement: we denied Turkey to become a member of the EU because of the death penality. True, it's not the only point for rejection, but it was a major along torture and discrimination of women.
From my personal point of view: the death penality is wrong in every sense. Every (minister||priest||rabbie) will tell you that only God may give/take life. Keeping religion aside, how should anyone justify death penality? "Eye for an eye"? That's not quite civilised.
Please excuse any spelling errors, I'm to tired to be sure my english is correct. |
