The range of situations makes incorrect analogies (such as my earlier one) almost inevitable.

That said, while intent and circumstance can aggrevate a murder, I fail to see how accident or negligence can mitigate or extenuate a murder. The victim is still dead. Does humankind truly posess the wisdom to exact a fitting price for the loss of a human life?

An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth. Great -- we'll all be blind and toothless.
